Review Sony RX10M II Cyber-shot Digital Camera

Very happy after a month with this camera.

This is a Sony DSC-RX10M II Cyber-shot Digital Still Camera 20.2 MP

Reviews :

  • I have used the RX 10 II for a month now and am getting to where I mostly understand how to get what I wanted from the camera. I needed something smaller and lighter than my digital SLR for backpacking and hiking, The photos are indeed a little noisier than my Pentax K5, but the image quality is excellent and I really appreciate the wide range of the zoom lens without having to carry a couple of heavy lenses with me. I do miss not having F22, but am learning to live with F16. I am glad the custom buttons are so easy to set up, as I can fiddle with ISO, aperture and speed, as well as use the excellent auto-HDR feature rapidly enough. I am also happy to discover the camera does okay for macro shots of flowers, etc. I had expected to have to use the telephoto for close-ups from a distance, but found it focuses closely at the wide angle. I am not a professional photographer, but have years of experience going back many years with a Nikon 35mm SLR and half a dozen digital cameras before getting my Pentax K5 a couple of years ago. I got the Pentax because it was weather-sealed, as this RX 10 II is as well.

  • Well, built. The camera feels solid, the switches and dials are precise. It has a pleasant weight to it, not too heavy, but not a super-light piece of plastic junk either.

  • All the clever things you expect: scene modes for common shooting scenarios, smile detection, face detection, including the ability to register faces and only detect THOSE faces, which seems like it would be good for group shots where you want to make sure people you know get focus priority.

  • Very nice EVF with integrated level. Probably one of the best EVFs I’ve looked through, to the point where I almost don’t miss the TTL view from my Canon.
